I first started writing this about a month ago, before all of this. I just finished it and it feels right for me now more than ever. —————————————————————————- We Are One When all the stripes and bright stars fly for everyone under the sun when the rich man and poor man are hand in hand, we are one When the pure beauty of truth means more to us than money when we see the immigrant man as American, one we will be All the time and resources we spend on machines of war could be spent to be a helping hand for sick, needy and poor we the people ask the question why why not, what with all we’ve got we see the people at the bottom whose hopes are dwindling down to none when we shine a light in the darkness we’ll be one And when our vast differences unite us when the day is done when the woman, child and man seek to understand, we are one And all the stripes and bright stars will fly for everyone under the sun together we’ll work as one hand to build the promised land we will be one we will be one “Difficult times often bring out the best in people”—Bernie Sanders |
