Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Big hunt tonight.
There’s money to be won.
He took his Easy girl.
She needs one more win
to make her Night Champion
before he starts selling pups.
She is good and loud.
She bawls on track.
She does a dying ball when she locates
and when she settles at the tree she starts to chop.
She’ll go as far as it takes to strike a coon track,
putting miles on the old man.
He likes his Easy girl,
she has a distinctive voice,
that his failing ears can hear,
so she is easy to call.
She’s not the best dog he’s ever had.
His Tramp dog qualified for the World Hunt
at seventeen months,
but, got hit on the highway before he could go.
He hunted hard back in those days.
Got his first dog when he was twelve
and it has been his passion ever since.

There seems a depth to this that makes me want to go back and reread some of your other works to see if I missed something.  Nicely done.
