4 December 2019

Take my hand and let us wander with joy
towards the sunset
far distant at the end of our earthly road.
Notice how enticingly the road twists and turns
with ballet-dancer grace
and that some parts are hidden from view.
No matter how rocky
or dusty,
or corrugated
or slippery
or dangerously near a precipice
those hidden parts may be,
we will be safe
if we hold on to, and believe in, each other
and our Father God.
Look at that dear little frog
splash-hopping in that frog-happy puddle!
And, over there, see the grace of that tree
bending its boughs over the road
to give shade to passers-by!  And look!
Right underneath it
is a rock
just the right size for us both
to rest a while.
Hold me and kiss me a swoon
as time stands still.
Oooh, did you hear that, my sweet?
A gurgling brook
just out of sight.
Let us find it and drink
of its sparkling water.
Refreshed, we wander back
to our beautiful, dusty road of life,
to the chirping of avian music
from all around.
The sunset is still far
and seems to be receding
as we walk,
but there will come an hour
far into the future
when we walk
into the heart of the sunset,
together,
hand in hand.

Psychic just might be the word-
For our relationship.
The same desires, and longings
To make the mutual trip-

To dream worlds, far beyond the ken
Of mortals don’t you know.
Without the slightest hesitation-
Into them we boldly go.

I shake my head at foolish youth-
And fleshly lust unsated…
When longing turns to purest love-
For which so long we’ve waited.

So, slumber, dear, upon our bed-
And hold me in your dreams-
Fulfill your needs, as I will mine-
Tis only right it seems.

What lovely thoughts to wake up to, sweetheart!  Thank you for your unending gifts of ecstatic love.  Our love is so worth having waited a lifetime for!  You are so right – we are one in every way.  We are so blessed and lucky for so many things, just a few of which are that we have met; and fallen in love; and have recognised our pure, unblemished love for the perfection that it is; and that we treasure it; and treat it like bone-china, though it is as strong as an ox and as unbreakable as the sun.  With you by my side, I can cope with anything, my wonderman.

I love the last part of the poem. It's just so peaceful.
