4 December 2019

Tonight, as I sit in my study,
my dog Benji on the chair
next to me, I am trying to work,
but my fingers slip from the keys,
as my eyes lift to the topmost shelf
of a wall of books, but books are not what I see.

I feel an ecstatic smile lighting up my face
as we gallop across the plains of Arizona,
me on my beloved horse, Flicka
and you on his best friend,
the wind in our faces,
racing, not against, but level with each other.
All four of us are one -
one glorious, adoring, soulmate one.
We belong together as no others
bonded by love,
we ARE each other.
Telepathy slows us down all at the same time,
at the same pace, to a walk to rest our horses.
You and I turn to each other simultaneously
and we look through the other’s eyes
into every corner of our souls
and our hearts open wide
and I melt.

Somebody on TV shouts and I jump
then sigh at being rudely awakened
from the daydream of my life,
my love and our horses,
but my smile doesn’t fade,
because you are my smile
and I feel your protective presence
every moment of every day and night
in my heart and in my arms.
You ARE my day and night,
my dark, my light,
my happiness bright.

Ah, Diana. The beauty of your mind, heart, and words takes my breath away.  It is too late and my mind too befuddled for me to respond properly.
Love

Ah, John, darling!  The beauty and love in your response when it is too late and you are tired and your mind is befuddled, take my breath away too.  You, my dearly-befuddled love, are my inspiration and my ecstatic joy.

Love is a many splendored thing-
I’ve no doubt this is true…
It can only be epitomized-
When it refers to you.

The thoughts I hold for you, my dear-
Are tender, deep, and real-
I simply do not have the words-
To tell you how I feel.

To taste your lips, and kiss your neck-
To whisper in your ears-
To hold you tightly in my arms,
And drive away all fears.

To walk together hand in hand-
Through moonlit meadows, too
And pledge unending love, my dear
Which my heart holds for you.

Miles and hours separate-
Yet words draw us together,
And storms may come, as storms oft do-
But every storm we’ll weather.

Oh, John, sweetheart, thank you for this lovely, lovely poem, that has me swooning yet again.  I was about to tell you my favourite part, then I decided on another part then another then another and landed up covering every part of the whole poem over all my choices but whilst I adore every word, my second favourite part is the kisses on my lips and my neck and the whisper in my ears and driving away all my fears . . . oooooh!  But my most favourite part of all is the reassuring and heart-warming last two lines, my love:

And storms may come, as storms oft do-
But every storm, we’ll weather.

Have you been reading my mind, darling?  I know you know me so very well, but this was an amazing feat, even for you - and over so many wild waves too – when you see what I came in to post, you will see exactly what I mean!
