Walk With Me
By Paul Wilson

Walk with me…hold my hand
my time on earth will soon end
Let me share my heart with you
right now I need a friend

I want you to know I’ve had a good life
you brought me joy and happiness thru it all
The river of life never stops like
all those memories of you I recall

Walk with me to rivers edge
sit with me and talk awhile
Reminiscing about good times we shared
I will always remember your sweet smile

We’ve had good times and bad
making specialmemories together
You brought happiness to my heart
and I know we will always be together

Walk with me to mountains top
so we can share the view from above
Hold my hand and it will be okay
don’t be afraid we are joined by love

Walk with me…hold my hand
my time on earth will soon end
Let me share my heart with you
right now I need a friend

It’s time for me to leave and you to stay
in this world you know, please don’t cry
I have already passed on… God gave me these
precious moments to say… I love you and goodbye

I will be there when you need me
just call my name and I’ll be there
We can sit and talk like we use to
anytime you feel alone I swear

Think of me when it rains
think of the raindrops as my tears
They are happy tears just for you each one
a memory we shared over the years

NAMYH...You have touched my heart by saying I inspired you to write something. That is my main reason for writing poetry to touch and inspire others. Thanks for making my heart smile...Paul

I find this intriguing, and refreshing, Paul.  Not that a poem on impending death should ever be refreshing I guess, but some who have the (gift or curse?) of knowing their death is eminent let it affect their lives in a profoundly negative manner.  I have a few people in my very close personal lives who are doing that right now.  To read this, sure gives some clear perspective.  Embracing the beauty of things shared in the past... as well as holding precious every moment of life that is left.  Deeply moving piece, paul.  Thank you.

Michael...Thank you so much for your insightful words. This was written sort of as my own revelation of my death, but sadly my daughter passed away last night. I never knew when I wrote this it would be her instead of me. Thank you so much for reading and I hope whatever problems are affecting those close to you are resolved...Paul

((Hugs))  My heart aches with you and for you, Paul.  I have two very close relatives, brother and mother, who won't be with me much longer, which is why I was so moved by this.  Their perspectives, attitudes and most of all their choices are almost as hard to bear as I know the loss will be.  know that you are in my prayers tonight.

Michael...Hugs and prayers to you my friend these are very hard times indeed. She was the inspiration behind many of the poems I have written. Not sure if I can write or look at poetry in the same way again cause I love poetry almost as much as I love her...Paul

Very Beautiful Dear Poet Paul.
My heartfelt condolences to you, may she
rest in the arms of God.
And I do hope when you feel up to it
that you continue to share your gift of Poetry, somehow I think your daughter would like that.

Hugs & Prayers..
Sky~

I applaud that you say you may never be able to write again, Paul...for you have the integrity to not let your poetry be or be compromised by what has transpired.  I do believe, however, you will, eventually.  I don't think the pain ever truly goes away, but I do believe we come to live with it, in our own ways, and the living with it gets easier, as we fall into the demands of the world around us...basically distract ourselves.  When/if you get to this point,  you will pause and reflect from time to time...and a man like you will always remember the beauty she brought to your life, and know the blessing, even if only for a little while, you held.  And I do so hope you write about it Paul, cause I can tell by your emotion now that it was a wonderful thing.

Michael...Thanks for your words of wisdom, they hold a lot of compassion and thoughtfulness. I remember so many times when I would write a new poem, I would rush to let her read it. She had a lot of living left to do, but I know God needed her more than I do if that is possible. I had her for 55 years, now God has her forever.
Thanks for all of your positive caring words. My prayers are said for you...Paul
