My Used To Be Me~

My used to be me
seen it all
through hot Summer endings,
soft shoulder proud,
and unbending.

A mental August letter,
stampless,
meaningless.. to some,
closing left undone.

To the Dearest gift of time
written in heat,
Recall licked
in bitter-sweet,
faded ink followed the cool beckon of Fall,
not knowing the Fleet of it all.

Wishes meant in such Earnest Light,
the yearly passage Rite,
My puff of candle wax Smoke,
My used to be me..

Outstanding. I could hear this as a song too.. and it sings. Well done.

Big Sara Bareilles fan too, ‘She Used to Be Mine’ is a big favorite.

I think my "used to be me" knew it all, except for maybe the fact he knew nothing.  Yours certainly makes for a better reflection...never have I seen acceptance so eloquently stated.

Sky,
There is a magic to the music of your words. There is always some point in your poem that grabs me and gives me a whirl. I marvel at the way you turn a phrase. You are a delight! ~L
