The other day a friend and I were comparing aches and pains.
Reminiscing on a lifestyle that we’ll never see again.
Thinking about the distant past and “going down the road”-
Of times we rode them pretty and the times that we got throwed.

Reminders of the “fun we had” riding broke and hurt-
Meals, a can of pork and beans, and good arena dirt.
Far more nights away from home, than sleeping at the house-
A miracle I raised my kids, and still retain my spouse.

Would I do it all again? I really cannot say…
It makes for great old memories, but I couldn’t make it pay.
The aches and pains reminders of how I used to be;
Footloose, young, and crazy, I only thought of me.

I wouldn’t trade those memories, for a boxcar full of gold.
Especially as I realize I’m quickly growing old.
But would I do it all again? I sadly realize-
I probably would, if I could see, life through those younger eyes.

Yup.  I think the only thing that would change our past decisions would be seeing them through aged eyes.  But who knows what else would be changed just for the beforehand knowledge?  Contentment is overrated, acceptance keen.
