Beautiful Drifter~

He drifts on the outskirts of beautiful,
part of it belonged to him,
he'd helped build it,
with the mighty hammer of his heart.

Turned away from possibility,
as her scent filled his imagination,
perhaps he couldn't see past tomorrow,
beyond the comfortable conformity,
obligation stiffened his upper lip.

He chose instead the familiar,
the safe niche,
where regret
can pierce the soul.

But she knows he loses himself in dreams,
travels the fields and meadows
gathering poems among the wildflowers,
as he rolls in with the clouds,
a touch of sky
upon his tongue.

This is simply beautiful, I think my favorite of yours thus far. Your talent shines and I wish I could write like this. I usually get too wordy. Enjoyed, saving this.

augustsky...Really enjoyed this. I think a lot of us wannabe poets and dreamers can relate to this. Thanks for sharing...Paul

Quivering with sadness on so many levels, AugustSky.
