Bitter cold got nothing on you.
Your artic heart is pounding ice
through your veins.
Once warm as springtime,
your season changed.
Like a tree in winter
whose sap has drained
to roots safe beneath the ground.
Your wooden emotions
are safe and sound.
I was once your sunshine
that thawed that cold hard heart.
But only for a season in time.
Too soon your words grew short
and your looks held frost.
My warmth was lost
as your ice broke us apart.

Thanks for the read Sky!
I usually write from reality, but this is not one of those times.  I'm with you on having it out. ~L

I've heard it said emotions can dry up...but never seen an example of it so vividly portrayed.  ouch!
