Beneath the Snow~

Beneath the snow
Lie promises,
Hibernated covenants
Restless in their bed,
Seeds of faith still cling
Against north wind naysayers.

My meant-to's are there,
Just below the surface,
Thoughts of every hue
Scattered
Like the bedraggled leaves
Of Fall,
Caught and buried before they
Could scurry-fly-away,
But dormancy
Has given them a wily patience.

How the past shivers
An untrusting back,
Yet hands will soon lose themselves
In rich warm soil,
Caressing fine hope,
These tiny moments
Vine worthwhile,
And the clay pot
With saucer to catch all tears
Will hug the sill,
Rooted in determination,
Just as the heart waits
For the sun of Spring,
I will bide the deep of Winter
To see the first crocus
Expose its purple-headed secret to the sky,
Who am I to doubt miracles..
And all those promises
Beneath the snow.

Sky,
This is beautiful! I love poems that use nature to describe human emotion. You did this to perfection! ~L

quote:
"Who am I to doubt miracles...
And all those promises
Beneath the snow"
Indeed...who are any of us?

I suppose I could have quoted the entire poem, Miss Sky. Well, perhaps just one more so as to leave room for the others:
quote:
"And the clay pot
With saucer to catch all tears
Will hug the sill
Thoroughly enjoyed.

Lori and Bluesy and Alana said it all for me . . . eh . . . Either that or I am just becoming mentally lazy.
