Fair to middlin' of nowhere

There is nothing like
ham and beans and cornbread
on a snowy winter’s day.
It is comfort food
that sticks to your ribs
and warms you to your toes.
A nice fully belly
on a do nothing afternoon
lends itself nicely to napping.
Everyone knows,
but very few say
about the fun that begins
at the end of the day.
It is bedtime at the ponderosa
and the musical fruit
is warming up.
Back to back
we are locked and loaded.
Let the games begin!
The sheets begin to fan
amid giggles and grins.
The first to complain
is the loser.
The other stinker
automatically wins.

I don't know about you Bluesy, but I'm never going to be able to hear the word "banjo" the same way again. I have a feeling you'll be at the watering hole checking out banjos now. ~L

You're right about that, Miss Lori.
In fact, I was just hearing a few bars of "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" myself.

this is like a very friendly evening, a warm atmosphere to make disappear winter and foes, to keep on, poem that makes feel good
