The confetti of autumn
lays a shrine for its hostess
as she's losing her cradle
though some are still clinging

the mirror is transient
with the pond laced in crystal

the hostess leans over
maternally reaching
but her children are tempted
with ombres and ambers
siennas and cinnamons
for this twilight of roaming

while the poets are waiting
for 3 penny operas
as all will be windswept
with wild illustrations
tsunamis of charlottes
runaway sentences
tumbling rumbling
leaves kissing cobblestones

in the calypso of night riders
taking flight on the red eye

at this segue of seasons
while the chimes are a ringing

comes the caravan of colors

magical
mystical
