Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Lord have Mercy in the morning
when I wake up hours too early.
I sneak about the house
like a criminal so as not to disturb.
I watch videos with no sound.
I sip coffee, letting it get cold
as I scroll, like, share and comment.
I play the slots for free,
I’m up to eighty thousand.
I’ve even held the hand of solitaire
more times than I can count.
Sometimes it makes me sleepy
and I can snooze until the alarm.
But when the Lord has Mercy
on me in the morning,
he blesses my heart
with something to write about.
He stirs my soul with
the beauty and perfection
that is nature.
He fills my heart with love.
He makes me aware
of injustice and the unkind,
and gives me voice.
Dear Lord have Mercy on me
at this ungodly hour of the morning.

Heh.Heh I cannot relate. What with my nightly medication, and three glasses (small) of wine, I'm out for the night. I'm grateful.

Lori...I'm with you. I wake up every morning at 3 AM to give my wife her meds, and usually spend the next 2 hrs. watching T.V or thinking about the people I love and how grateful I am for the life I have...Paul

Well Jerry, it never really dawned on me until just now on why you can't (with your imagination) relate. Seems to me that just walking in your own shoes has been hard enough, making walking in someone else's near to impossible. ~L

Poet in pajamas,
I think even the worms are asleep at 2:30am.
But I am the Queen of Naps and usually konk out after work until it is time to fix supper.
I think I'm pretty hot stuff if I can stay up past dark. ~L

Paul,
It kind of started when the dog went through a period of getting up at 3 to pee. Now he is back to sleeping through the night and I'm the one still waking and getting up. Here lately I've been having to test my blood sugar as it has been getting a little too low in the mornings. ~L

Yann,
I'm glad some one can relate. My husband thinks I have completely lost my mind that and I want to get up that early. ~L
