Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Among the many things
I’ve been fortunate to receive
from family handed down,
is an embroidered linen
and crochet lace bed cover.
It is light and airy,
just right for summer
to lay gently upon the sheet.
The now off white fabric
is becoming threadbare,
too delicate to use upon
the bed anymore.
I must say it used to look lovely
laying over my cream comforter.
I reluctantly retired it.
But it has been repurposed.
It has found new life
as a window valance
in the living room.
The window where the stained glass
that was salvaged from my
great aunt’s house hangs.
I took the bedcover and folded it
over the wood curtain rod.
A wide band of lace.
that would have been running
down the middle of the bed,
is now across the top of the valance.
The crochet lace border
just touches the top of the stained glass,
and the embroidery is centered.
I have off white blinds that can close
from the bottom up that touch
the bottom of the stained glass.
It completely changes the light in the room
with a one of a kind look.
I just love it when an idea pans out.

Amazing thought process, and you have plenty of it, Lori. You never stop being a super delightful creative soul.

Thank you most kindly Jerry. I think necessity is the mother of creativity. I don't think I could have bought anything that would have worked any better on that wooden dowel rod. It was too high to work with standard valances.
