I am up unreasonably early on the first day of summer vacation. I must be excited to get things started. I have projects. Winter clothes to pack away and Xmas decorations to relocate. I have two walls to paint in the guest room. I want to paint behind the stove and repaint the hood. The wallpaper under the kitchen window needs to be replaced. There is furniture to rearrange. And I have an idea for a window treatment I can’t wait to experiment with. Oh and lets not forget all the stuff for the GoodWill I need to sort through. And I always have a mountain of laundry waiting to be folded, hung up and put away. The front of the refrigerator needs demagnetized and scrubbed back to shiny white. Carpets could use a shampoo… The list seems endless. It wears me out just thinking about it. Unfortunately for me when I am most stoked to tackle these things is when I first wake up while the rest of my world is trying to sleep. So I sit and quietly write until he gets up. But by then, I’ve grown sleepy again and inertia keeps this body at rest. But as luck would have it, the Lord of the Manor will be off to California in a week and be gone for at least two. So there goes my excuse. And an excuse it is too, because I can fold my laundry quiet as a mouse. I already moved the decorations and they’d be put away too if the closet door wasn’t stuck. I hear stirrings from the bedroom… must be my break time. |
