Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Perhaps it is the time of year
when life renews
as pheromones
and pollens
fill the air,
that makes me
feel anticipation.
Perhaps I have a primal urge
to see a courtship display
from my mate.
Perhaps it is an ancient longing
that’s missing a mating dance.
Perhaps it is just reminders
of our early days together.
Perhaps it is only my hope renewing
that your love will want to
shake its tail feathers at me.

Those tail feathers, my friend, are most likely still vibrant and full of life coming after you. I would hope so.

Shaking tail feathers,
creast standing proud,
stamping feet,
ruffled breast,
song full blast . . .
yeah, here’s looking at you
baby!

good one, my friend . . .
