A vagrant heifer’s tinkling bell
rang throughout the day
like a coffee shop concert,
echoing into the dark of night
which now surrounds me in my meditations

The mountains coax a pale-yellow moon
to pour itself into their heavy breasts
as a clear sky exposes a million secret stars...
stars that I’ve christened with the names of many dead friends

A short distance away, the cabin yawns in the dusk,
exhaling a lazy drift of smoke along the tree line
Our weathered old Bonneville lay rusting upon its frame,
as a monument to so many happy times…
happy times that will return to us, baby… “Soon”

This is such a 'pretty' poem. It reads like a picture postcard from home. And I know "soon" can't be "soon" enough. ~L

Not to wait for better days, rather to fight for them with a togetherness . . .

Quite right, Miss Lori. These few remaining months are passing quickly now.

Many thanks!
