Took my little mutt to the vet today.
She just didn’t seem to want to play.
She hadn’t eaten much for two weeks,
Drank too much and water made her squeak.

Didn’t take the vet five minutes to say,
Chronic heart failure and liver, by the way
He gave her a script for Furosemide,
Come back in two weeks if she hasn’t died.

Zoe is my friend, my faithful mutt,
Gonna beat this, together we strut.

Oh Jerry,
I'm so sorry to hear about Zoe. Well, at least she will be able to spend her last days with you and that is all that matters to her. I hope she feels better soon. ~L

Yes, thank you, Lori, for your kindness. I know she will be happy to spend what days she has left with me, as do I with her. We will see how things go.

Despite my preparation for coming into another Zoe poem after I discovered the shattering news, I thought I had my emotions under control, I find that I haven't.  Wish I had been able to say Goodbye to her and to have tried to be there for you in her last days.  Rest in peace, sweet, darling, beautiful, loving, lovable, adorable, clever, faithful, precious cuddly Zoe.  I know you are looking after Daddy from on high.  Tears, girlie.

I haven't been on the site much lately, Jerry. I just read this. So very sorry to hear about  Zoe. A couple of years ago I lost my cat who was on her way to 22 years old. She was my companion and I miss her dearly. I do understand and sympathize.
