Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Wee hour risings
a perplexing habitual.
A mind wakens
ready to meet the day
in the middle of the night.
Some rise with intent
to go to the gym
at ungodly hours.
I have no such desire.
I simply wish to return to
the sweet oblivion of sleep.
It is inevitable sleepiness
will catch up to me.
The sooner I’m caught the better.
Sleeping another hour or so
is quite heavenly,
Even though,
I awake the groggy wakeful
of the alarm going off.
Nothing at all like the
bright-eyed 2:30 of this morning.

I once had a job in radio, Miss Lori. I did an FM Country show mornings from 5 am to 10 am. I had to be there by 4:30 am to turn on the transmitter and warm it up while preparing news briefs from the AP wire service and various other prep work. This meant I had to get up at 3:30 am so that I could get myself "kick-started" so that I could wake up a few thousand other people. I used to scream in my car on the way in and recite things using 'exaggerated mouth movements' so that my 'radio-voice' would be ready.

Long story just to say..."I know what you mean!"

Motor safely and enjoy the day...

I'm loving that part of old age, Lori. I get so much more sleep these days. Naps? Hell yeah, I now know that a nap can be as wonderful as they used to say it was.

Bluesy I went back to bed this morning at 4 after trying for half an hour to fall asleep in my chair. I swear I never slept a wink. Dennis said I was snoring. Jeeze. ~L

Hey Jerry! Yes, napping is a great hobby! I highly recommend it. However it is frowned upon at work~L
