The groceries are put away with an attitude
I’m trying to keep to myself.
It was a bad night
and it was an awful day.
Too much thinking time on my hands.
Too many conversations rehearsed.
I’ve had enough of this feeling.
Time for a breather.
Two slow deep breaths
and my shoulders start to lower.
A couple more and I’m ready
to start to let go of
anger and hurt.
I form my face into a smile
to trick my brain into ‘happy’ mode
to release endorphins.
More deep breaths
and my mood rises.
My bad attitude disappears
and I am me again,
as if all that negativity
just went up in smoke.
