Fair to middlin'
When the wind gets a going
and really starts to blowing,
it rocks this house to beat the band.
It plays the building like a woodwind instrument
as it trills the trellis and warbles the water spout.
The metal porch roof plays bass.
The tin shed door keeps time.
The lively music is like a lullabye
to these midwestern ears.
Seems I could lay and listen forever
to that shake, rattle and roll.
