It's not that doubt the merits of forgiveness
I merely question it's practical application
As some deeds are dark, and truly contemptible

With you, wicked and unrepentant
And I, unwilling to pardon the unconscionable
We reach an impasse

At this yawning divide between the space
Where you sinned against my humanity
And where I reforged the remnants my life
I stand in contemplation
How do I forgive
The unforgivable

I think our capacity for wholeheartedness can never be greater than our willingness to be broken-hearted."  Brene Brown

quote:
"It's not that doubt the merits of forgiveness"
A bit clumsy of a start for such an intellectual effort.

But, then again you struggle with this as well:
quote:
"And where I reforged the remnants my life"
Your prompts are well-timed, if not conspicuous. Wrestling with forgiveness has been hard for you, hasn't it?

Why not just be yourself? Truth is simple. The truth will out.

We forgive not for the sake of others, but for ourselves. We never ever condone the unconscionable. But we let go of the festering ill will that would hamper our happiness. All always easier said than done. ~L
