It was one of those snow-blind days where the sun reached in
through a window frosted like fresh meringue, throwing a sliver of light
across her mottled pond of steaming hot cocoa
Most of her days were blind...especially when she’s looking at him

The handle of her porcelain cup curved in a luxuriant sort of way,
beech-brown and shiny, a bit smudged with a distorted fingerprint he bequeathed
before he disappeared behind the camera lens to capture the legacy of her lips
as they swirled about in the sculpted foam of her cocoa

“I wish I could take a photo without a camera”, she said, “so I could look into this indulgent cup
and see your polished face in the simmering surface smiling up at me”
She always knew how to make him feel like the luckiest boy
since Narcissus fell into himself to plant the first flower...

Bluesy, Bluesy, Bluesy,
Not only do you tell intriguing little stories, you also throw in these wonderful references to mythology or famous writers. You are well read my friend and have a head that is full of more than just cheese doodles. I like that! ~L

Aww, thank you, Miss Lori. I can't say much for being "well-read", but there were days gone by when I spent a lot of time reading.
I've only recently switched gears some in the hopes of writing more interesting poetry. I'm happy to know you approve and I very much appreciate your reading and commenting.

Thank you again, Lori, Lori, Lori...
