He was a cynical old man
who lost his can of Simonize
somewhere in the junkyard
of his tired thoughts

Confusing bitter memories
with his worn out ego
that never really served him
past his dreams of avarice

He was a cynical old man,
once a charming sociopath
that painted his hidden frowns
into an hourly clownish smile

He destroyed all who knew him
and passed the blame along
to those weak enough to believe
his deceptive emotional appeal

Yes, he was a cynical old man
coming to grips with himself
in the same way he faced others
...making it more and more difficult to shave

Bluesy, this isn't your usual fare. I like it very much. Some deep thought going on here.(not that your other poems don't have deep thoughts) You leave the reader with some mixed emotions, almost feel sorry for him, but not quite. I like that you never know what is going to come out of that cabin that smokes... ~L

Yes, Miss Pinky...'tis an unfortunate choice of existence.

Much obliged.
