(I don't know where I was going with this, but I like where it went anyway...)
-------------

In Our Own Time

Dreaming like a bleeding pen
a massacre of words on the page
heart fit to burst wide open
songs as medicine in such a contagious age
we run to undone only to stop on a dime
we are contradictory in our own time
but we'll be just fine
we'll be just fine

Dreaming in diminished blue
the music falls and rises again
soul fit to burn wild and true
songs as a voice of reason above the din
we fight for what's right or what's wrong in our mind
we are a disasterpiece in our own time
but we'll be just fine
we'll fall in line

Scars on the evening sky
a distant light across the water calls
the loneliest sound in the world
listen for it to fall
where do we think we're going
how many miles have we gone
we see faces in the moon glowing
unconcerned with the dawn
disconnected with the shape of a human heart
the blood rhythm and the rhyme
all the world's a stage and we play our parts
and we're all the starring role in our own time
in our own time

Dreaming like a bleeding pen
a massacre of words on the page
heart fit to burst wide open
songs are contagious in such a medicine age
we run to undone only to stop on a dime
we are contradictory in our own time
but we'll be just fine
we're all completely out of our collective minds
but we'll be just fine
we'll be just fine
in our own time

"Beauty has a way of seeming unconcerned" - Neil Finn, 'Terrorize Me'

Great line in a great read, Zach. Has a lyrical quality about it.

Although you were unaware where this poem would lead you, it lead you to a cluttered poetical highway, but you can hold your head up when it was finished with you.

Wherever you were going, your writing resonates with the dreamers and true believers, free spirits and lost souls ..simply because you write from and to the heart.  You have such an uncanny way of expressimg pure emotion...

Your poetry makes my heart sing soul drifter.
