Beside me you can sleep, or perhaps somewhere else,
while I prefer to lay here, watching how the stars
enchant the black silence which surrounds them,
then seeing how they fade behind a rigid grid of a silver screen
that seems so utterly pointless in this cool, gray, dawn

Having sporadic visits from the resident cat purring within her soft fur,
her teeth and claws float above me as her whiskers dust my face
Twisting around to interrogate me further like a solicitous hair stylist
masquerading as the barber of Fleet Street with a salable meat pie facial,
I summon my two Rotts to consider a 'between-meal snack'

...I'll provide the floss

ah yes, the love of a cat is a curious thing. Their love shows up at their convenience to be displayed in many sharp ways. Loudly purring, they can puncture flesh
with affection demanding paws and 'love bites'. And don't forget the old standard of their butt in your face that seems to be saying, "kiss me now". As for the Rotts, you make them find a different chew toy. ~L

Poor cat, hope the affection doesn't get it into the Rott's meal room......

Twisting around to interrogate me further like a solicitous hair stylist
masquerading as the barber of Fleet Street with a salable meat pie facial,

That's a description of a cat that I've never seen in a pet store for sure.
I guess it's true "only your hairdresser knows for sure!"

true love never looks after it's own interests

Thanks, Eric. You must have shopped for cats before.
