A heavily gray Sunday springs anew from the death of the old curbside stranger,
who’s become cold now...just as cold as the church that received him

Laid out shoeless and rigored within the deep coffined darkness,
his once youthful eyes are now closed for an eternity of eternities

Perhaps, he meant something to someone, but none present would say it was so...

Nevertheless, the fragrance of funeral wreaths wafted like ghosts across the graveyard
acknowledging the sweetness of life now solemnly expressed by the recently deceased man

Black draped figures shuffle down the broken path to where the earth awaits the return of her son,
standing in silent murmurs as the grave gathers her tribute, all feathered up in their widows’ weeds

Platoons of tree toads wait quietly for the sun to fall when in unison they’ll croak a familiar dirge
In the warm Spring rains, a muddy shovel pats out a final farewell to a man only the widows knew

Bluesy, you are on a roll! I don't know what your cabin has been smoking but it has been very creative. You always have me looking forward to the next in the series. ~L

Ahhh . . . This man's final fate has a large company. So much passion without being recognized. Yes indeed, many before him and many more to follow him.

Thank you so much, Miss Lori. But these writings aren't always original in the "creative" sense, but merely interpretations of things I've experienced or seen before, in paintings and pictures.

I talk funny too, without having to go to the dentist!
