The Song I'm Singing In a time of innocence I was a sinner just for fun now there's so much to feel but all I feel is numb and when everything is illuminated I'm a blind man stumbling into walls the rain feels like a symphony but I can't hear it fall And it's the last taste left on my tongue that concurs empires within my soul but if there's still a battle yet to be won I'll be on that hill come morning can you hear the song I'm singing oh my love oh my love At a glance I am a man but I'm still a child underneath now there's so much to be but I'm bankrupt on belief and as everyone dances in the arms of love I'm a wallflower wilting on the vine the stars sing in harmony but I can't see them shine And it's the last taste left on my tongue that concurs empires within my soul but if there's still a battle yet to be won I'll be on that hill come morning can you hear the song I'm singing oh my love oh my love Break down cut the rope I'd be strong and still standing if it weren't for you but the universe will have it's way at the end of the day it's just another slow motion ballet to the earth our hearts' traumas are mere whispers less than an afterthought but darkness has a shape and I've got mine and you've got yours but if you could just hear the song I'm singing open your ears and your heart hear the song I'm singing I'll sing till the darkness has come apart even if you can't hear me even if you don't love me And it's the last taste left on my tongue that concurs empires within my soul but if there's still a battle yet to be won I'll be on that hill come morning can you hear the song I'm singing oh my love oh my love my love can you hear me oh oh my love "Beauty has a way of seeming unconcerned" - Neil Finn, 'Terrorize Me' |
