A good mid-morning
to you my partner in rhyme,
Welcome to your day.

Here¡¦s to sunny skies
and balmy breezes sent out
to make your day great.

Have the kind of day
that lets your mind wander to
creative places.

May your appetites
be strong and guide you to heights
you have never known.

May you feel the world
is with you and on your side
and going your way.

May words come easy
free falling from finger tips
to dazzle the page.

When you close your eyes
may your thoughts come softly
and rest gently there.

Delight in awesome
celebrate all of your cool
smile and just be you. ļ

Mid-morning now noon
You make a good day better
with your punderful greeting

Thank you Miss Lori
for the sunshine on my face
and breezes behind

I have been accused
of having a wanderlust
I cannot deny

My appetite thrives
in diverse ways and places
I’ve never known why

You’re so very kind
Thank you for your good wishes
I deserve much worse

Good tools are our words
We use them to build friendships
That last a lifetime

There is a woman
whose fingertips close my eyes
while folding sawbucks

Awesome and happy
Celebrating Miss Lori
Yes, and is so cool!  →

*********Kind of a dis-harmonious blend of scattered thoughts. I wouldn’t look      for a storyline behind it if I were you, Miss Lori!

Christmas time is here
My daughter decorated
the house with favorites

Like her Christmas books
and all the different stockings
we put out each year

The nativity
always finds a home somewhere
special to be seen.

We got a new tree
With the lights all attached
It looks very real

Most decorations
are hand me downs from my Mom
some she made by hand

Christmas cookie jar
comes from out of the cupboard
waiting for a fill

Eggnog in the frig
getting on a perfect chill
for drinks later on.

Hot chocolate on hand
with lots of marshmallows too
sweet and warm and good

Hand-made Christmas throws
come out to keep us all warm
and bring us good cheer

We need mistletoe
The old one it fell apart
guess we wore it out

For Christmas kissing
and cuddling to begin
must have mistletoe

Enjoy these few days
to party and celebrate
Happy Holidays

‘Christmas is for kids’
That’s what the old man would say
who gave us all treats

He was always old
or so it seemed anyway
All of us liked him

In our neighborhood
everyone knew everyone
much like a small town

Holidays were fun
Pot lucks at the block parties
Accordions played

The old man would dance
smiling with all of two teeth
to a slow schottisch

Bright decorations
Trees showered with ornaments
glowed in the windows

Scent of Scottish Pine
permeates the living rooms
adding to the joy

The old man goes home
He won’t celebrate with us
Says he’s feeling ill

His flat lights were out
so we swung his door knocker
He didn’t answer

Neighbors went to check
The land boss used his pass key
The old man had died

Sitting in his chair
he held a bag of candies
like he always did

They took him away
Unceremoniously
To the ‘potters field’

Every Christmas
I remember the old man
‘Christmas is for kids’

I agree with him
We have Christmas every day
Kids but once a year

Nowadays I’m free
No more shoulder to the wheel
I have a nice chair

I like it indoors
though I spend a good deal out
wrestling with my dogs

Four-wheeling kids come
to cop some of my candies
I'm like the old man

Close to freezing out
have a fire in the wood stove
to heat the garage.

Wood stoves are hard work
but oh so worth the effort.
Wood heat is different.

Warms you to your bones.
The flames are captivating.
Always relaxing.

There is nothing like
the smell of a wood fire
on a very cold day.

Hauling in the logs
Is a chore just like old times.
History repeats.

I feel excitement
about the coming season
and all that it brings.

The Christmas parties
The family coming back home
The Christmas baking

Seeing some old friends
Making some new ones like you
make for special times.

You are the highlight
in an otherwise dull day
I look forward to.

Thanks for your support
I'm glad you're in my corner
and cheering me on.

Steam radiators
or a hot water system
Both keep you toasty

If you have firewood
from your own ‘back-forty
that keeps the cost down

I too like wood heat
But wood makes you smell ‘woodsy’
if you’re in the room

Wood stoves with blowers
can burn away from the house
Sounds much like your own

I like open fires
A warm hearth is romantic
Dogs really like it

Scent of a wood fire
unlike Chanel Number Five
I prefer Chanel

Cradled in one arm
Split smaller for the cook stove
that warms the kitchen

Shuffling tracks in snow
Carrying logs from woodshed
Everyone has chores

“Seeing some old friends
Making some new ones like you
make for special times”

Always a nice word
I appreciate each one
It’s just you and I

The “highlight” is you
You never have a “dull” day
You’re much too busy

Thanks for your friendship
You’re not distant or bias
You’re original

I’m much too busy
Or you might think that is so.
I am so damn bored.

Work is a bad joke,
can’t keep me busy all day.
Days are very long

I have no bias?
What to be biased about?
I don’t understand.

Do you mean I think
we are all human beings
more alike than not?

Nobody’s perfect,
we learn from all our mistakes.
Karma is a witch.

I’m one of a kind
They broke the mold after me
Stick out like sore thumb.

Half bubble off plumb
This old building has settled,
a fixer-upper.

Bats in attic,
the front porch is now sagging,
could use a face lift.

Not too bad I guess
with all things considered.
Some miles have been hard.

Looking back it’s hard
to think what happen to me,
I was young and dumb

Then I was older
Apparently not smarter
New set of mistakes

Things far from perfect
Head and shoulders above past
Good man with good heart.

I’m mostly content.
Something is missing I fear.
It’s been a hard year.

Can’t worry right now,
jury is out while he’s sick.
Just hope for the best.

The last December
that will pass by my lover
where she cannot leave

We were a great pair
Doing it all together
Unfortunately

We met in eighth grade
hitting it off right away
I was the new kid

Steadies through high school
we took my old Nash and ran
never looking back

I found work mining
She worked as a dressmaker
But we wanted more

Traded in the Nash
and bought ourselves a pickup
and a couple guns

Things went south quickly
I went east and she went west
We should have gone north

I graduated
She graduates in ‘18
We’re much older now

She did 25
I had to do just 15
I’ve waited for ten

We’re still together
and soon we’ll be man and wife
It’s been a long time

We’ll finally live
just like we always should have
Quietly at home

OMG, Bluesy
your story shook me so sad
brought tears to my eyes

How sweet and good though
that you have stayed together
How special is that?!

A long time to wait
but not time wasted on her.
Says much about you.

I am so happy
your wait is nearly ended.
That is exciting.

Incarceration.
You two have that in common.
That will be helpful.

The love you two share
is an exceptional thing.
Wish you all the best.

You must write a lot
that explains why you're so good.
You got some smarts too.

I admire you
and your love situation
really romantic.

In life it must suck.
I just cannot imagine
how hard it must be.

Thank you for sharing.
What a good friend that you are.
Want the best for you.

**Many thanks, Miss Lori. You're a treasure.

Days are shorter now
Seasons come and seasons go
Just four more seasons

I never wrote much
Forgetting all of my thoughts
before writing them

A few do survive
like old ones from the cabin
Though some are newer

I like Senyru
Short and sweet and to the point
Its a lot of fun

I like Haiku too
When I think about it all
it’s a better word

We can ’ku or ‘ru
Whatever you want to do
I still like ‘ku

Say it with a five
Then again with a seven
Coming back to five

Relaxes the mind
Not so much strain or fussing
Like ‘Cabin’ poems are

Maybe tomorrow
we’ll both feel much more refreshed
I’ll look for you then

The Christmas party
was last night at a cool place
for the EBL

The EBL are
a group of bikers that ride
and raise money too.

The place was kickass,
pool table, theater seating
and a Jacuzzi.

Sound system was dope
The old biker flicks were fun
Joe Namath in one.

The food was potluck.
We all stuffed ourselves silly
on smoked turkey.

Outside was a fire
where everyone went to smoke
and tell dirty jokes

The old school was there
passing the EBL torch
to new blood with us.

We are not a club
We are like a family
Friends for forty years.

That was my Sat. nite,
we were home by ten o’clock
and I got lucky.

I recall a club
A benevolent bike club
Jerseypine Cruisers

I recall others
Far more malevolent clubs
Always recruiting

I pay them no mind
They don’t know a heel and toe
They don’t get tank shifts

When it used to be
she and I and forty-five
and a strong right leg

Throttle on the right
A manual spark advance
on the left twist grip

Heel and toe pedal
for clutch on the lower left
brake pedal on right

Hardtail frame in rear
Springer suspension up front
Springer seat with fringe

There were Indians
with a great in-line engine
Flared skirted fenders

That old ‘45
once made us feel so alive
and the bucks were free”

I am not the same
his long illness changed me
for better or worse.

My independence
is out of my comfort zone
to do what I want.

I’m doing for me
small things without any guilt
like buying makeup.

Work, I dress better,
less distress about weight gain.
Talking to friends more.

Been on my own now
emotionally too long.
He is self-consumed.

Coming back slowly
Scare to core changed him too.
He’s not bullet proof.

The big dog on porch
is little dog under porch.
Ego took a hit.

So I have grown up
(what a silly thing to say)
a bit at sixty.

Hard stuff will do that,
grow you up and grow you old.
At any damn age.

So I am better
for having been through it all.
I am better me.

Am better to me,
still have a ways yet to go.
Working on awesome.

Vows are forever
if valued by both people
Kind of old fashioned

I shouldn’t talk though
I’ve sacrificed myself too
on altars of sin

Care giving is hard
Takes the starch out of you fast
One needs some time off

Appreciation
not always made apparent
I needed a fix

Went outside of her
Then told her what I had done
She said that she knew

She said she felt good
knowing that I had told her
Understood my plight

She used the word ‘plight’
saying that it was alright
since she was away

I felt like a heel
swept up in the old magic
of our high school days

So I made a vow
to never again fall prey
to a raised hemline

Yes, another vow
“vows were made to be broken”
says the old adage

Been there and done that
No need for two forgivings
I’ve made this one stick

Lonely is hard stuff
make a person do things too,
glad she understood.

Relationships hard
yours is better than some are
who are together.

I admire you,
you are stand up kind of guy.
You took the high road.

Don't know what to say
my life is pretty boring.
Same ole, same ole thing.

I came home early
yesterday and took a nap
went Xmas shopping.

Have had to pick out
my own gifts since with Dennis.
Got shoes, boots and shirt.

Got him a big drone
He is like a little kid
He likes to fly stuff.

I thought the big one
might be easier to fly
(and crash too prob'ly)

I have got to go
get ready to face the day.
I am dreading work.

Way too much free time
makes for such a long, long day.
Ready for Friday.

You take care Mister.
She is depending on you
to see this thing through.

“Lonely is hard stuff”
I thought I could handle it
until I met ‘her’

I knew it was wrong
but her love overwhelmed me
It didn’t last long

But once was enough
to make me feel like a heel
so I broke it off

I wrote my baby
I had to schedule a call
so I could hear her

She said “it’s alright”
making me feel much better
So I made a vow

Your words were so kind
You understand much, Lori
We’re not so dif’rent

Life can be boring
but it doesn’t last for long
I mean the boredom >>>--- >

Good to take time off
Getting out to spend money
is always good for the soul

My only shopping
is for groceries and such
Don’t shop for Xmas

Some will fly models
Some want to make love to them
Both are fantasies

Sometimes they fly well
Sometimes they fly and then crash
Both are just the same

It’s the day after
the day you dreaded, Lori
Was today better?

Enjoy your Wednesday
Smile a lot and tell some jokes
Set them to laughing

I’ll take your advice
She’s a very good woman
Who paid a stiff price

Wednesday was okay
I caught myself nodding once,
nothing new at all.

Don’t know what to say,
Looks like I’m dropping the ball
I admit defeat.

The day got away
I didn’t get it written
Now it is bed time.

I am so sorry
the day got away from me.
I have tomorrow.

Good night to you friend
May you have sweet dreams of her
that will warm your heart.

Stories in poems
reflecting reality
as poets see it

They may be real
or they may be imagined
Some poets do both

Sometimes there’s a mix
Embellishments for color
But ‘the truth will out’

Continuity
A ticket for good poems
like conversations

I struggle with both
But I think I fake it well
to take up the slack

Anyone can write
just as anyone can paint
Jackson Pollack did

So I carry on
waiting for my sweet baby
She might be surprised

Time will be taken
and “Bluesy” will live no more
nor will the others

Soon comes the New Year
The only year I have known
for such a long time

You’ve been a good friend
and good friends are hard to find
wherever you look

So you take care friend
and stay as strong as you are
for the one you love

I heard a strange sound.
Thought it was my shoes squeaking,
was my ass dragging,

Up at 3 with dog,
made coffee, fed animals
then fell out till 5.

Luckily phone rang,
my daughter asked about
supper with Grandpa.

A prime rib dinner
tonight at the nursing home.
Food is always good.

Danori and I
will go by ourselves tonight.
He can’t eat the steak.

He having hard time
swallowing his food eating
trying to gain weight.

Gets dentures fixed
today, hopefully, will help.
Very frustrated!

The cancer treatment
left him without appetite
and no saliva.

Slowly getting well,
he is very impatient.
Has been sick so long.

Getting excited
about Christmas shopping now,
my daughter goes with.

Xmas vacation
Starts 22nd ends the third
I just cannot wait!

You and I Lori
No one wants to play with us
It’s not you it’s me

Some feel they’re too old
Veterans of what once was
But it was mere ‘days’

But if Bluesy left,
More than likely you’d see them
returning to post

As I come and go
I’ve found this to be true
Matters not as ‘who’

Sounds a bit pompous
I’m trying to watch my words
But its what I feel

Maybe its my name?
Is what I write offensive?
You don’t seem to mind

It’s not unnoticed
I just thought I’d mention it
Seasonal absence?

In any season
it’s still the “same ole same ole”
Some don’t even post

Busy detectives
Checking out alter-egos
They just gotta know

Never thought to ask
They just like to keep guessing
Living secret lives

Its pretty silly
Many forums are like that
Extension of ‘self’

Anyway Lori
YOU’RE the one responsible!
YOU started all this!

Or was it Bluesy?
Blame it on that Bluesy Boy!
Bluesy takes the rap!

Sorry I blew up
It’s these anti-depressants
that Tom Cruise sent me!

I don’t understand
why us writing would stop them.
What’s the difference?

People are funny
Nothing inappropriate
going on ‘tween us.

I can’t imagine
we aren’t being read at all.
Curiosity.

Why you think it’s you?
Alter ego maniac?
Hmm, I’m not so sure.

Neither one of us
that influential, you think?
We still got Pink Poet.

Go ahead and vent.
Let off all the steam you want.
That’s what friends are for.

Yea! TGIF!
It has been a long, long week.
So glad it’s over.

Shopping and cleaning
are my plans for the weekend.
Laundry out wazoo.

Think I’ll take a nap
after I get home from work.
Got up at 3a.

Try not to sleep now
that is frowned upon at work
(sometimes I go home)

Went downstairs to file
papers for a co-worker,
it woke me back up.

She gave me a pop
and some chips and some salsa
She’s fun to work for.

Letters to type now,
maybe even get in mail.
I better hurry.

Now that that’s all done,
I can get back to good stuff
writing ‘ku, ‘ku chain.

No real difference
Some come in and only post
without replying

Preconceived notions
based on a poets writings
A form of ‘write rage’

Open forum slums
‘Upper East side’ seldom seen
We’re in the ‘low-rent’ (Ha-ha!)

Personality
Just like a banana split
without banana

Ah! Good ole Pinky!
She tore me a new _ _ _ _ _ _ _!
Nearly called me one!

“Go ahead and vent”
Okay, now I’m all tapped out
You are a good friend

My weeks go quite fast
I’m really glad that they do
Time is now my friend

I play with the dogs
after I give them their food
so I’m not their meal

Chores keep me busy
I like it when it’s cooler
Just for a season

I was up at three
I hit the sack about four
I get up at ten

I’m not a napper
I spend time with my neighbor
down the road a piece

Coffee and some bull
More coffee and a heifer
(and a prune danish!)

Have a good weekend!
I hope it goes slow for you
Enjoy your shopping!

Taking a breather,
been folding clothes all morning.
It was out of hand.

I am still not done
But I can see the bottom.
Procrastination.

The shopping went well,
found everything I wanted.
Now shop for others.

I’m really kidding.
Well, kinda kidding, ha, ha
Did shop for others.

My friend is coming
She is going to help me clean,
God bless her sweet heart.

No rest for wicked
So I better get up now
Back to *##^*! Laundry!

Got the washday blues?
Take a spin on the cycle
Agitation gone!

I liked to think some
about who’s clothes I’m folding
Pleasant thoughts of love

Laundry room smelled good
Aromatic dryer sheets
and her sweet perfume

Radio would play
and we’d share a little dance
laughing away blues

Had an old Speed Queen
and a pair of metal tubs
with a glass washboard

Then there was the rock
by the creek behind the house
It was just a rock...

It’s time now to rock
this small town Saturday night
into Sunday ‘morn

Hope you do the same
Cut the rug into pieces
Save a slice for me!
