In The Mirror

They all came to his wake yet nobody spoke
They all stared for hours but he never woke,
A man went around with a bucket for tears
They couldn’t see it coming, but he had for years

He had died long ago but no one could know it
He had to remain living life as a poet
They each held their hearts up high toward the sky,
asking the clouds why he had to die

They realized too late that his love was alone
He had died in misery with his heart turned to stone,
They say he called out but not one heard whose name...
Some blame the candle...and some blame the flame

...just bein' Bluesy
