Empathy
By: Nadia Lockheart
10/21/17
.
.
There is beauty beyond ourselves...
.
.
...made of quirks, perceived flaws,
and flash floods...
.
.
...each person you meet...
.
.
...is an aspect of yourself,
screaming for love...
.
.
.
...humility,
has no substitute...
.
.
...we're all beggars and vagabonds,
in these tight times...
.
.
...but don't you dare be ashamed...
.
.
...to let your tears,
gleam like searchlights...
.
.
.

When hospital beds,
feel like vacant taxis...

...I want to sit with the broken,
cast loose from the moorings...
.
.
...we're burnt out flames,
yearning for ecstasy...

...making perfume of boot camps...
...searching for empathy...
.
.
.
Skydiving,
between black holes...
.
.
...burning to inquire,
rather than examine...
.
.
...like attendants,
stationed in airport bathrooms...
.
.
...just wanting to be heard,
in the thick of this famine...
.
.
.
When hospital beds,
feel like vacant taxis...

...I want to sit with the broken,
cast loose from the moorings...
.
.
...we're burnt out flames,
yearning for ecstasy...

...making perfume of boot camps...
...searching for empathy...
.
.
.
I want to be the person...
you needed when you needed help...
.
.
...we're striving to be the people...
...we needed when we needed help...
.
.
.
When hospital beds,
feel like vacant taxis...

...I want to sit with the broken,
cut loose from the moorings...
.
.
...we're burnt out flames,
yearning for ecstasy...

...making perfume of boot camps...
...searching for empathy...
.
.
.

The repetition of verse has the feel of a song.

Nice structure, well written.

the song sounds of great awareness, sensitivity and a strong yearning for who we are....who we are meant to be....lovely write.
