Twas the night before Halloween
And through~out the witch's lair
They all cackled and argued
Over the color of their hair

One prefered dark green
And another blazing red
The witch in charge wanted
A purple mohawk instead!

The cauldron was bubbling
Over an open pit
As they grabbed their spell~books
And commenced to sit

The shadows they cast
Were hideous upon the walls
As they practiced their potions
Their shrieks and their squalls

They screeched out thier ingredients
Eye of newt, two legs of a squid
Warts from a toad, a buzzard bone
Threw it in the pot and slapped on the lid

They whistled for their broom~sticks
Checked the bristles and blew off the dust
Made sure they were in working order
For on this night it was a must

They laid out thier apparel
Black cape and pointed hat
Striped socks, buckle boots
And oh yes, one black cat!

They nestled down for the night
All snug in their beds
With visions of scaring children
Dancing merrily in their heads
