Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2017-10-14 06:25 AM

As Autumn slowly entices Winter towards us,
we join in by putting out bright orange pumpkins
and wreathes of flame colored leaves.
We pull on our pretty knit sleeves
and warm jackets.
Fall is when we get ready for the cold coming on
with ciders and thick hearty stews.
We start looking for hats, gloves and mittens.
It’s been known to snow on Halloween
and only sturdy souls trick or treat in the sleet.
We dig out our boots, ice melt and shovels,
never knowing in the morning the weather we’ll meet.
That first hard frost likes to freeze us to death,
you’d think it was ten below.
Then fall fades away like the leaves on the trees
as Winter blows it’s way in,
and a day just below freezing
is called a warming trend.

Hah! This brings back vivid memories of growing up in Arkansas. We welcomed the fall, but it only lasted a short while in our way of thinking before winter quickly set upon us with its fierceness and hate-filled wind.

We had a cold snap down in the 30's a while back and you should have heard the whining!
"oh, it's soo cold!" I'm here to tell you that is just crisp and brisk, the real cold is coming and they're gonna wish for 30's again. ~L

I hear you talking. After last summer, I, like so many others said, I'll never complain about winter again. Well, winter is nigh and I am already dreading winter. I maintain that Congress pass a bill saying we should only have two seasons, fall and spring
