Fair to middlin'
As Autumn slowly entices Winter towards us,
we join in by putting out bright orange pumpkins
and wreathes of flame colored leaves.
We pull on our pretty knit sleeves
and warm jackets.
Fall is when we get ready for the cold coming on
with ciders and thick hearty stews.
We start looking for hats, gloves and mittens.
Itís been known to snow on Halloween
and only sturdy souls trick or treat in the sleet.
We dig out our boots, ice melt and shovels,
never knowing in the morning the weather weíll meet.
That first hard frost likes to freeze us to death,
youíd think it was ten below.
Then fall fades away like the leaves on the trees
as Winter blows itís way in,
and a day just below freezing
is called a warming trend.
