Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Oh Friday!
Sweet mother of the weekend
Godspeed me to Saturday
and all the relaxations therein.
The week has been long and demanding
and I am short and lack understanding
with those in my charge.
I have no compassion for their lack
of academic action.
I’ve had my fill of foul mouths
and fouler attitudes.
They have trampled
my latitude.
But it hasn’t been
all pearls before swine.
Some are always
responsive to time
spent and invested.
My patience they’ve never tested.
Blessed are they
that don’t push my buttons
and drive me crazy.
Frankly, I’m lazy
and don’t want to spend
my precious weekend
in some asylum.
Tonight I’ve got a date.
I’m conserving brain cells until then.
I’m planning on pickling them.
It won’t take long
and I’ll be silly and ready to go
home to my comfy bed.
Where if I’m lucky,
I’ll play dead
the whole night through
uninterrupted by dog or cat.
(I highly doubt that)
And in the morning I will see
what my weekend
has in store for me.

So much to like in this "long poem", Lori Rhoden. From "Oh, Friday! Sweet mother of the weekend" to "I’m conserving brain cells until then. I’m planning on pickling them", and then on to "I’ll be silly and ready to go home to my comfy bed. Where if I’m lucky, I’ll play dead the whole night through uninterrupted by dog or cat".

Overall, an entertaining 'journal entry'. I trust you made it home to plan a sequel!

No, but I did post a follow up to my party poem in insights by accident. You'll have to check it out there.

I'm glad you read this poem and enjoyed it so much and took the time to let me know. ~L

Oh! By the way Miss Lori, I visited your post over there at 'Insights' a few days ago.

Definitely the 'less-traveled road'.
