I brought the axe, the rake,
the firewood
it was in Big Bear country
a shack and a few trees
     felt like it was afloat
in the heavy fog
I pull out your blouse
warm my freezing hands
     and you laughed
you laugh and then shudder
peeling garlic by the
     hot iron stove
we lean
against each other
stew simmering on the fire
as we devour what we have to give
     special love.
