The mug is empty, the caffeine gone,
Nothing at the bottom but coffee grounds.
The day is wide, the night is long.

Dizzy my shades, the blackout wake;
The foot slips under my knee,
Wide-eyed wants and tired bones--
Put on some joe for me.

Pepper it, tease it
Anyway you please it,
Just pour a cup for me.

I can relate to this. Those of us that drink coffee have a strong relationship with our brew. We may only have 2 cups in the morning but those are two very important cups, almost like old friends. ~L

Ahhh . . . I drink coffee all day long. Sipping on my first one as I type this comment.

Lori,
Coffee has never been my game--until recently, when I find it does not agree with my esophagus. Shucks! It feels good on the brain, but not the drain...    (Still will sneak a cup in now and then!)
     Thanks for sharing.

Jerry,
Enjoy a cup or two for me! Good to hear from you.

Me too - coffee drinker - mostly morning but if really good . . . almost anytime, especially if outside and the weather is cold.
Love coffee when I'm in thought about something - or just contemplating, like on a cold or rainy day sitting on the deck . . .

Tea, now, (here's where many think I get offensive), That's just totally off the books for me! It really has to be something special! And so far, I haven't found anything to rave over!

Ouch! my aunt just slapped me in the head!
(that's all she drinks - any kind, any where!)

But, back to coffee . . . it has to taste pretty good too - bad, or old brew you can have, unless I'm REALLY cold.

I'm not much of a coffee drinker but this is a cute little poem.
