Nostalgia is self-satisfying dreams,
A saccharine-laced tribute to your past,
A wondrous time, good for your self-esteem,
Those days hold treasures you hold onto fast.
Be careful when you travel down old paths,
They can, on a dime, sully weary thoughts,
Ghosts from before can be consumed with wrath.
Which robs your innocence, makes you distraught.
Imps from remembered days confuse the facts,
And penetrate the psyche you hold dear,
Soon the sweet memories are out of whack,
Things are never like you thought they'd appear.
When raveling back in time just beware,
That your recalls don't turn into nightmares.

Super Sonnet Jerry Liked the way you expressed the good, the bad and the ugly of life's journey. I believe all of us have dealt with that in our lives at one time or another ~ Another great read   Alana
