Fair to middlin' of nowhere

I could have been
one of Pavlov’s dogs
drooling over a bell.
I’m quite sure a hypnotist
could put me on stage
and make me cluck
like a chicken.
So it should come
as no surprise
that all pills
work for me,
(at least in the beginning.)
The placebo effect
gets me every time.
I’m always sure
I’m so much better.
Then the new wears off
and I’m not so sure after all.
I’ve only done this for decades.
Trial and error,
symptoms and side-effects.
So I have learned
to wait for my placebo friend
to brighten my days,
if only for a while.
Sometimes that is just
the break in the clouds I need
to glimpse the sun again.

This is completely the mind over matter relationship between you and the pills you take.

Pinkypollen,
I'll use any excuse to feel better and run with it. That's why doughnuts will be the death of me yet. ~L
