I was a man-child in tha day
Just looking places to play
Looking for ways to set me free
Searched over here and I searched there
Never wanted to be a square
Looking in gutters for the key
Walked into places on a dare
Got out on a wing and a prayer
I looked for me and then I'd flee
Fists clenched, I was on a flash point
Smiling ladies saved me sometimes
Traveled this land from sea to sea
But it is the here and the now
I'm who I am without kowtowing
The difference between now and then
It was in the swamp I found my Zen
Will never get better than this.

Aw JP your poetry is very telling...an open book never read better.  I love your reference to a flash point.  Nice touch , great writing.

Happy Sunday JP.

Yeah, maybe I misnamed the poem, Alana. It certainty was not all weary by no means. I had my days, for sure. Thank you, for stopping by and commenting.

Well done, my friend.  A LOT of people don't understand, like you and I, "the power of the swap"!

Jerry -

"I looked for me and then I'd flee.."

I think we have all done that at one time or another.

I remember as a young person, I was so restless...it unearthed me at times, wanting so much to travel and absorb knowledge....it was a yearning that I never seemed to be able to calm?  Then one day, it seemed, I came home...to a calm and peaceful place.

See what your poem reminded me of.

Enjoyed....
