madness looks back at me in the mirror
my soul blackened with insidious peccadillo
the jungle beat of voodoo drums quicken my heart
I blame on psychedelic whiplash
everybody said would surely sprout through the cracks
in the form of blasphemy screeching at modern art
where paranoia paralyzes and incinerates
therapeutic revelations
and cast a great darkness in hopes of dousing the fire
of malnourished rationalization

my muse has deceived me
allowing me to flounder in reflective smoldering fumes
bloody scenes from yesteryear
where mad craving rage
squandered budding companionship
with a façade of shallowness

I had to look up "peccadillo" and "psychedelic" in order to better digest your poem.

As for the poem, that's why it's so crucial to "know thyself." Otherwise we easily stumble in our relations with others, and later regret it. Profound, intriguing read.

Nothing wrong with looking up words, I do it all the time, Cerulean.

To "know thyself," is something that many of us refuse to tackle, but you are correct, it is imperative to do so, otherwise we flounder within our life's journey. Thank you for stopping by today.

You're most welcome, Jerry. By the way, while browsing this website's other forums today, I ran into a post by someone stating that you were recently missing in action and missed. I thought I'd give you a tip off on that. See here: /pip/Forum56/HTML/000081-6.html

Thank you, Cerulean, I was about two weeks missing in action. The problem? Computer died on me and I had to wait until payday to get another one. I almost went bonkers because I couldn't go online.

It's amazing how addicting technology can be.

Glad you got that sorted out and have a usable computer again, though!

Yes, Cerulean, it is big time addictive. And this from a man who said he would never own a computer. Now look where I am. Heh.Heh

I know the feeling. Sometimes I feel that people would have been better off without computers. We live in a much changed world compared to that of the 20th century. Regardless, '95-'99 was a very interesting time to own a computer due to things like AOL chatrooms and the dot-com bubble.

If I may ask, what made you feel like you didn't want to own a computer? And when did you start owning one?

Cerulean, I was talked into it by a friend. He convinced me that my novel writing would become much easier. He was right. I made all the difference n the world. I bought my first computer in 2006.

You surely know how to reach in and wake up emotions within the reader and make them feel what you are going thru at the time.

Jerry- Just now saw your reply to my earlier comment. That's great your friend was able to convince you. Computers are indeed a wonderful tool for creating novels and other things. Thanks for replying.
