Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2017-05-27 07:34 AM

Tonight I’m going to a party.
I’m going to paint on my party face.
I’ll squeeze into my dancin’ pants
then set my mouth on mingle,
set my conversations on superficial,
and smile, smile, smile.
The food will be great.
The people will be crazy and questionable
as old biker friends can be.
It’ll be good to see the girls again
they really are the best.
They make me laugh.
They give me hugs
and make me feel special.
They are a good hearted group
I would only trade
for fame and fortune.
Which means they are
my friends for life.
The young wild ones
will party on all night,
I will most likely leave at dark.
I won’t leave a shoe
on the palace steps,
but I’ll turn into a pumpkin
after midnight.

Set my mouth on mingle
My conversation on superficial

Love this poem - it's universal. I walk away thinking, "Lori wrote about ME."

Nothing like an annual party with your crazy friends! I sure hope it stops raining by tonight so everybody can ride their bikes.~L

Pardy-hardy Miss Lori, footloose & fancy! You well deserve it!

Summers' off eh? Did I tell you I was looking for a waitress with a penchant for song and dance...for the Summer?

A real 'tiger' of a gal!

Just out looking for the real me...

I love the entire poem, but especially these lines. It reminds me of me... telling myself "you WILL have a good time!"... while suspecting I'd have a better time not going. LOL

Great write!
