I used to believe
in miracles and music
I used to believe
in my own heart and you
Back when the sun
‘crept over my shoulder,
the sun, your shadow, and blue

Looking through memories
that flow from my eyes
Great rivers of wanting,
upon shores of goodbyes
Each among others,
so warm and so clear
Looking back to the days
when I held you near

Now, lullabies don't linger
on rusty old strings
The words have been lost
and nobody sings
Just sadness and sorrow
are all that time brings,
with the sun, your shadow and blue

Just out looking for the real me...

Well PU, if you ask me, put it to the right tune and you've got a hit on you hands. I don't know about you, but the sad stuff comes easier to write about. Even if you are bleeding tears in the process. ~L

particularly :

"I used to believe

Thanks Pinky. Parents aren't supposed to outlive their children, but sometimes they do.

Actually Lori Rhoden, I did originally compose it as a song 17 years ago, right about this time of year. I have more lyrics, but they're personal to just a few in the family. I thought it it would make an interesting post such as it is.

Thanks as always for your replies.
