Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

there are no poems
or words to rhyme

the broken pieces of songs
i sing trail into the night
and clutch my mother’s hand

i wish for more time while
she whispers an apology
for taking too long

there is no schedule
go when you are ready
i’ll be okay, i say

she drifts into restless sleep
and i make no noise as i cry

Oh my, what a sad, but wonderful conservation. I absolutely love it.

I've picked up the phone to call you many times this past week, but - as with so many other things - never completed the action.

I wish I could make things better/easier... but I can only tell you I know... and that you have found words for those feelings so overwhelming that words fail.

HUGS to you, sweet lady.

Tears, dear Alison, I am so sorry for your grief and pain and emptiness and anguished thoughts - but I am also envious of the bond between you and your mother.  Hugs.

Oh my. You all touched me deeper than deep. I wrote this after my mom died a few years ago. Around the same time, I stopped posting. I found this in my computer the other day. I miss my mother, but I am happy and doing well.

xoxo

I cannot tell you how this pulled at my heartstrings.  My mother is 94 and has been confined to a bed for about three years. Your beautifully written poem is written perfectly, expressing difficult times.

To the library.

Thank you for this. Since my mother died almost 6 years ago I've kept up writing, but I haven't been able to put my grief for losing her into words. I couldn't put them together in a way that worked or anything. You have done what I wish I could. Exceptional writing. I'm so sorry for your loss. I am glad you are still here, sharing your work with us.

Pleased to meet you Alison This tugs at my heartstrings as I read. I lost my own dear Mother 7 years ago, so I relate with your feelings of sorrow. Much enjoyed my read ~ God Bless
