When I was small, say, a lad of six
I knew there was nothing that I couldn't fix
Mom's toaster, Dad's flashlight,
and Grandfather's clock, when I heard the "tick", missing its "tock"!

These kinds of jobs opened many an eye,
but the praises were few in-between
And the faces they made when my work was complete...
Were the "strangest", that I'd ever seen!

As the years passed, my talents grew stronger
Now, those faces aren't "strange" any longer
I've a lad of my own and he works very hard,
doing dishes, the laundry, and mowing the yard

But,for flashlights, clocks,
and toasters, you see,...
He keeps his hands OFF!
Those are for ME!!
