Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2017-04-28 06:34 AM

My comfort zone
has shrank.
As the years have grown
I have swelled
and now,
my comfort zone
is all but
skintight.
My elation destination
is where there’s doughnuts.
My sense of adventure
ends in indigestion.
My car never departs
from well-worn paths.
My mind rarely strays
from worn out thoughts.
I hold my world close,
with everything in plain sight.
My comfort zone is all but skintight.

Laughing and personally understand and agree, my friend.  Always nice to have a chuckle in the morning to help alleviate the pain of rising, although I surely relish, and  thank God for,the "pain" over the alternative!!

Good Day to you!!

Good morning Jimmy! Good to hear from you and to know my laments are not mine alone. Yes it is good to be alive, if for no other reason than to complain about it. ~L

I have lived within this comfort zone you so eloquently write about, Lori. I, did as you are doing, wrote my way out of it.

I guess I'd laugh if I saw and heard you relate this poetry Lori Rhoden, you know, if you were in a skit on SNL that is. Apart from that, you define the proverbial "rut", which is not always humorous.

We're all just that 'one decision' away from changing it all. In any case, please forgive me if I've looked deeper than necessary.

Pass the Glade if you're going to do that here...

Jerry, Didn't realize how stuck in my zone I was until I went shopping out of town with my daughter. ~L

Oh PU, you have hit the proverbial nail on the head, it is as easy (or as hard) as changing your mind. Even an uncomfortable rut at least feels familiar. I have a sneaking suspicion that a higher tax bracket would broaden my horizons. ~L

While physically you may be in a rut, your mind never falls into that trap. We need to catch up! Good job, Lori.

Hey Karilea!  My mind has been on hold since Dennis found the lump in his neck last August and will be until they read PET scan results this August. ~L
