Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2017-04-20 07:59 PM

This is the day the world tips its hat to Marijuana.
In some States you can smoke it legal if ya wanna.
Some people will spend today
educating about its medicinal properties,
while others  of its evils preach
and of addictions teach.
A whole lotta people havin’ their way,
breaking their bud out at parties,
getting high and feeling good,
putting the hurt on some serious food.
If I get to have my say,
of preferences of varying degrees,
drunks get loud, fight and fall asleep, a stoner is more apt to get dry, hungry and deep.
But it isn’t about the high anyway,
probably hasn’t been since the Nineteen Twenties,
it’s about  power and greed
and who profits what from that weed.
Sad to think corporations want to take it away
from the little Mom & Pop companies
that would grow the middle class
and save our economic ass.

As long as the corporations don't "upgrade" my cheap California burgundy anymore than it already is, I think I'll live over whatever is the weed aftermath of 4/20.

I'm not advocating anyone doing a doobie. I'm pro choice so you can keep your burgundy far as I'm concerned.

And 4/20 is 4:20pm the time assumedly most young people light up. So they all celebrate on April 20th.
I am serious about the financial benefits in tax dollars to the States where it is legal.
Kansas needs to follow Colorado and pull ourselves out of our debt disaster. Not going corporate is key to keeping the money local. ~L

Yep! 4/20 has been etched in 'stoned'.

"Don't bogart that joint my friend, pass it over to me". Such was the music of the 'heads' that still gets 'passed around' from time to time.

Glad you brought up Miss Lori.

Pass the Glade if you're going to do that here...

You took me wrong, Lori. All I was sayin was that whatever happened to the grass being  taken over by conglomerates, as long as they didn't molest my wine I didn't care. Sure wasn't thinking about "losing" my wine. Don't like to fight, let's don't my friend.

PU,
Thanks for your comment. I think Cannabis has been around longer than most of us realize and I doubt it is ever going to go away. One of the best by products of legalization is having the money for rehabs that we are desperately short on (especially in areas hit hard by heroin). ~L

Sorry for the misunderstanding Jerry. Your burgundy wouldn't be safe here in Kansas because they aren't looking to legalize, they want to raise the "sin" taxes. Yep, cigarettes and alcohol, not to mention when gas was cheaper they wanted to tax it too. We have a big mess here and legalization would solve so many problems. But we are also a State full of starched underwear conservatives and it doesn't sound like the White House is going to be supportive of change. ~L

It probably wouldn't be such a big deal to me if our State didn't have such financial woes. Our schools are broke and that hits me where I work. Pot is even able to pay for college tuitions! It is a win/win situation. The current Administration needs to wake up and smell the smoke. ~L
