Daddy's Girl
By Larry Chadwick

Another daddy’s girl has lost her man.
I watched it yesterday as she held him in her arms
and he slowly slipped away.

He was the first to kiss her cheek
to hold her hand
and touch her with respect.

He watched her very first step
and knew there’d come a day
when those steps would carry her away.

He observed her grow each day
and longed for her to know
that he would love her come what may.

Never did he dream the little girl he
cared for would one day care for him
but with his dying breath he knew
he’d always be her man.©

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Memories will now fill all the distance between those left to remember. All the gray areas become rich with color, like your poetry Larry.

Pass the Glade if you're going to do that here...

miscellanea,
You're as kind as ever. Thank you. Just working to honor what I saw at his death.

Dear Ruth,
He was 88 but still wanted to live a lot more life. But he was totally bedridden for six months. Still hard though.

Karilea,
Ah, but she gave her all and they adored each other. That's what I saw since last November. Thank you for your prayers and condolences.
