Words are more often than not,
trying to teach me something
in various fashions and accents.

Objects d’art allow me to look
as shallow or as deep as I wish
without uttering a sound.

Communing with them for as long a time
or as little as I choose and never having
to by their leave when departing from them.

...with feeling
for I hurt

....with passion
for I am knowing

....with love
for I am true

You're "dated vernacular" is a good fit for my 'dated' understanding of it. Thank you for your exuberant reply Lori Rhoden!

Ah, those objects d'art" are wonderful things. We can as you said, stare at them without saying a word for the longest time. People believe you are communing with it when actually you are trying to figure out how the heck to get away from it without showing your ignorance. Speaking for myself.
