Yes, sometimes, even after all these years I can be smitten with her face.

I bent and kissed her cheek
in parting
n’er thinking she would be dead
on the morrow
she called me a dreamer
aye, I had that glint in my eyes
eh, but more than a dream
I cast my lot
upon the wild and treacherous
fate called a hallucination
alongside a damn vision into the future
I’d yet to learn
what we see with cloudy eyes nothing more
than a delusion
within a figment of imagination
now I rest
amid her death’s wail
stuck inside this swamp’s piercing anger
I have found paradise
but I shall forever live here alone
braced against that cold, wanton wind
called Mariah
this paradise I have found
Mariah has told me of the demise
of Nanette, my lovely bride
has turned into a
window of hell
as I moan and shed tears for
my sweetness
n’er again to hold and love
and, as I cry
is what all we can see
is everything
only a nightmare made within a nightmare?

Stunning JerryPat, this I've quoted.

As for your last lines, I feel that's a question we can only answer for ourselves. I'm sorry for your loss. One would certainly never forget, but when love comes back into our life, the love we lost is no longer the last love we recall.

You are right. I had a new love, married with a beautiful daughter. Sadly, Marionette passed away. Our daughter and I are are Internet pals. I love her. She grew up watching The Monkeys on TV. I kid her about it still.

Again JerryPat, I'm sorry for your loss but did you have to mention "The Monkeys"? Now I'm walking around like a crazy man singing their theme song!

This is sad Jerry, but still you have a part of her still with you. And I believe, it shouldn't be a "nightmare within a nightmare", but a lost dream living forever that you can touch.

Yeah, you are more positive than I, jjote, and that is a natural fact. Thanks for showing y=up.
