Drifting

The quagmire
in which I was stuck
ended last night . . .
00:00:01 hours -
One second into 2017
all things that were 2016,
now the past -
or so I'm trying to
convince myself. -
is no longer relevant.

I've drifted, over night,
from a failed plane of existence
to wearing diapers
in another, and yet,
I'm already deeply buried
in Dante's terrible Inferno,
scratching and clawing,
trying to lift my soul
to a better place.

And now it's almost midnight,
first day of the new year
is gasping it's last,
and I'm still drifting
through the garbage
of all the years before.

Twenty Seventeen - A new year . . .

and nothing has changed.

Yep, I saw your comment and answered ya. Thanks.

This new year is going to be a good one for me, as was 2016. I have come to a place in my life that have left that quagmire behind. I am at peace with myself and the world. Besides, I have started writing another novel. Attaboy!

Good to see you again.
